Build without limits

All development tools a data integrator can wish for

Agility and flexibility don’t need to come at a price of security and governance. Multi-level environment management with granular user roles and permissions ensure efficient yet safe collaboration across the entire organization, from Line of Business users to IT specialists, or even B2B customers and partners.

Moreover, the platform is easily extensible, ensuring fast development of new components with minimal efforts, and provides an ideal playground for building new products and services on top.

FAQ

Enterprise Integration Platform FAQs

Clear answers to the most common enterprise integration questions.

What is meant by integration platform?

An integration platform acts as a middleware between separate applications, systems and services, either pushing or pulling data from them via APIs or webhooks as well as transforming these data to ensure that solutions which normally don’t communicate with each other form a technological ecosystem. Due to proliferation of cloud-based technology, this term is becoming synonymous to “cloud integration platform”.

What is enterprise integration platform?

An EiPaaS is a set of tools, functionalities and technology that are provided as a suite of cloud-based services and designed to support enterprise-class use cases for synchronisation and exchange of datasets between various systems, databases, apps, services, and more. Such use cases extend beyond a typical application integration and usually include B2B, IoT, Mobile and AI scenarios.

What is an enterprise integration solution?

This is rather a broad term that describes a range of offerings that help establish, optimise and control access to workloads for application programming interface as well as service-oriented architecture (SOA) and web-oriented architecture (WOA), typically by utilising messaging technologies and specific patterns such as publish-subscribe, message router, content enricher, content filter and many more.

Some common solutions that provide such capabilities are ESBs like Mulesoft or OpenESB, cloud-native iPaaS platforms such as elastic.io, Snaplogic or Boomi, SOA offerings such as IBM or Red Hat. Today, there is a large number of vendors and companies that deliver EI solutions designed for various verticals and use cases, and only a fraction of these providers is covered by the Magic Quadrant report from Gartner, so it is imperative to make an extensive market research to identify a vendor that will help you address your particular challenges.

How do I choose an enterprise integration platform that is right for my company?

Selecting the right EIP is undoubtedly one of the most important strategic decisions a business will make. Just like e.g. an ERP software or a datawarehouse, an EIP will eventually support a slew of business processes, workflows, events and use cases such as improving customer experience and satisfaction, introducing an AI technology or expanding your partner network.

Bad news – there is no “best product” out there; each offering has it strong and weak points – but you probably already know that. Good news – there is a set of functionalities, capabilities and features that are an absolute must for an EIP, by which you can identify if you should consider a product in the first place.

  1. Support for hybrid architecture
  2. Event-driven and batch processing of datasets
  3. Flexibility to connect to custom endpoints without relying on the vendor (SDKs and a wide selection of generic adaptors for ODATA, HTTP, SOAP, Databases, REST, etc.)
  4. An extensive support for enterprise-grade formats and standards (e.g. EDI, complex XML, JSON, etc.)
  5. Multi-tenant architecture, several development environments and robust user administration
  6. Powerful data transformation capabilities, routing and orchestration
  7. The ability to process high-volume requests in seconds

Further criteria would be compliance with security norms and strong security mechanisms, licensing conditions that ideally do not limit the amount of processed records or pose any constraints on datasets volume, and a comprehensive onboarding and training guide.
